Air Traffic Tower wins 2 RIBA London Awards
Heathrow Air Traffic Control Tower wins two RIBA London Awards
The Heathrow Air Traffic Control Tower has received an RIBA London Award. In addition, the client - BAA - was awarded an RIBA London Special Award for its commitment to the project at last night's ceremony at Chainstore, Trinity Buoy Wharf in East London. No other client was recognised in this way.
Some 20 buildings were announced as RIBA London Award winners, chosen from a shortlist of 49. Winners were presented with plaques and certificates. A total of 63 buildings across the UK have been selected for RIBA Regional Awards. These - including the Heathrow Control Tower - will go on to be considered for RIBA National Awards, to be announced at a ceremony on 22 June. Winners of the National Awards will then be included as candidates (together with non-UK award winners) on the Stirling Prize long-list.
