RRP Website Launched
Welcome to the new RRP website
This site is a fully dynamic, database-driven information portal, utilising the latest Content Management System technology, created with special attention to accessibility, so that everyone can use and enjoy it, regardless of abilities or internet experience.
All information contained within the site is contextualised, with most pages on the site having a list of related information allowing users to move in a non-linear fashion through the site, creating a clear link between content type and examples of a conceptual idea.
In addition, the site offers a portfolio function, rather like a shopping cart found on e-commerce sites, in this case storing pages which users have found useful in their own bespoke area, bookmarking them for later reading or sharing with colleagues. Go to Login/register for more details.
One of the key objectives in creating the site was to ensure that the information was as intelligent and transparent as possible. Content therefore takes precedence and indeed, the content and structure echo the way in which the practice approaches design, with a clear emphasis on transparency and legibility. The site currently offers information on 104 projects, of which 27 are presented as Case Studies.
The structure of the Work section focuses around lists of projects grouped by Masterplan , Buildings, Selected Works and All Projects . Like most lists on the website, these can be searched and sorted by column in ascending or descending order by simply clicking and re-clicking on the column titles. Alternative navigation is provided by a thumbnail gallery of Selected Works on the first page of Work for those who prefer to browse using visual aids.
In Selected Works, each project is divided into the logical stages of its progress: Concept, Design, Construction and Completed. At the Completed stage a thumbnail gallery is provided. Images within each project can be viewed by stage by clicking on the visual sub-menu of the relevant stage. Each image can be advanced to the next image by simply clicking on the image or by using the image navigation tools towards the bottom of the page.
The Practice section acts as a general notice board - offering information on summer student placements, opportunities for year-out students, our constitution, key events (e.g. collaboration with Open House and Architecture Week) and other CSR-related issues.
The News section offers information relating to competitions, ongoing projects, schemes nearing completion, forthcoming exhibitions and press releases (past and present).
The site is created with special attention to accessibility, with Skip, Large Text and Low Style, text controls and highly structured XHTML content ensuring the maximum degree of access for users of all abilities and skills.
The graphic layout of the site has been designed by Spin, with back-end technology supplied by Re-Solve using their 'Site Factory' content management system; the site's content is directed by our in-house team.
We very much hope you will enjoy the site.
