Dipl. Arch,. BSc (Hons)
Ivan joined the practice in 1985. He cut his teeth on Lloyd’s of London and subsequently led the design of the European Court of Human Rights and Bordeaux Law Courts. He was made a director in 1993 and senior director in 1998. In 2007 the name of the practice was changed in recognition of Ivan’s and Graham Stirk’s contributions. Together with Richard Rogers, they are evolving the practice’s language of design, to create sustainable and thought-provoking architecture for the future.
Ivan has considerable experience of directing complex projects both large and small and of many different types. Projects designed and realised under his supervision include: Barangaroo masterplan, Sydney; Maggie’s Centre, London (2009 Stirling Prize winner); 300 New Jersey Avenue offices, Washington DC; Parc1, a mixed-use development in Seoul; Oxley Woods, sustainable and affordable housing in Milton Keynes, UK; Terminal 4 Barajas Airport Madrid (2006 Stirling Prize winner); National Assembly for Wales, Cardiff; Law Courts in Antwerp; Minami Yamashiro School, Kyoto, Japan; Mossbourne Academy, London; Ching Fu Shipping Headquarters and R9 Station, Kaohsiung Metro, Taiwan.
Significantly, these projects have all been recognised by either national, European or international awards.
