Mike Davies has worked with Richard Rogers and the practice for over 37 years and has been involved with virtually all the projects it has undertaken. He worked on the Pompidou Centre, Paris in the 1970s and was project architect for the adjacent Institute for Research & Co-ordination in Acoustics & Music (IRCAM). On returning to the UK he worked on Lloyd’s of London, INMOS, and the Europier/Terminal 1 expansion at London’s Heathrow Airport.
Mike’s specific expertise includes masterplanning and urban design, science, technology, research and development. He was project director for the strategic masterplans for the Royal Docks and the Greenwich Peninsula in London, the City of Dunkirk, as well as leading the team for the Lower Manhattan East River project, New York.
Mike led the initial strategic design team on the redevelopment of the Javits Convention Centre, and 175 Greenwich Street, World Trade Center site, in New York. At Canary Wharf, London, he was director of the initial proposals for Riverside South and led the masterplanning of Wood Wharf.
Mike was project director for the Millennium Dome, London and for Terminal 5 at Heathrow Airport and is currently project director for ‘Grand Paris’.
In 2000, he was awarded a CBE for services to architecture.
