The new Mossbourne Community Academy has won a Hackney Design Award, announced in a ceremony at the Hackney Empire on 7 December . The citation for the school stated that ' Mossbourne Community Academy shows how good design can meet high aspirations and create a sustainable environment whilst providing for the demanding needs of a school.'
Councillor Bill Hodgson, Chair of Hackney’s Planning Sub-Committee, said: ‘These Awards have provided an excellent opportunity for the Council to give recognition to and raise awareness of high quality, contemporary design within the local built environment. We are also bringing together local people, architects, developers and planners to participate in wider discussions and debates around design.’
Launched in July by Hackney Council’s planning service, the Hackney Design Awards 2004 attracted 66 nominations for 55 different schemes.
