The Oxley Woods housing development in Milton Keynes - developed in association with Taylor Wimpey - has won the the 2008 RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) South East Award for Sustainability. The award was presented at a ceremony in Oxford on 22 May when the best entrants in the South East region for Building Conservation, Community Benefit and Regeneration categories were also announced.
Ivan Harbour of Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners said: "We are delighted that Oxley Woods has won the RICS Sustainability Award. Our partnership with a leading UK housebuilder has provided us with the opportunity to develop a joint approach which links house design closely to construction - and which offers real value to the homeowner. We are excited that a scheme which has been pioneered in the Milton Keynes / Buckinghamshire area - and which is highly flexible and sustainable - has the potential for providing homes for a diverse community for many generations to come in other parts of the UK in the future."
RICS represents the property profession and offers advice on land, property, construction and related environmental issues. It helps to set, maintain and regulate standards and provide impartial advice to governments and policy-makers.
