Ashford Designer Retail Outlets
The centre is designed as a ring of accommodation, looking inwards to a car park for 1,400 cars. In order to minimise the visual impact of the building, the centre is designed to sit low in the landscape.
The embankment, acting as a springboard for the tensile structure and concealing the service ring road, reaches up almost as far as the eaves of the tented structure.
City & Context
The 12 hectare site is located adjacent to Ashford International Rail Station, providing connections to destinations all over Europe. The structure appears as a tented encampment on the landscape and is designed to sit low on the site in order to reduce the visual impact of the building in a relatively flat setting.
